A good hotel in Wrocław near the city centre: what to look for when choosing

Reception and reservations, In The Sky Apartments Published Reading time 6 min

A good hotel in Wrocław near the city centre is one that fits your plans: before you start comparing offers, work out where you will spend most of your time, what must be included in the price (breakfast, a restaurant, a 24-hour reception) and how much space you need. Only then do ratings and photos make sense. Instead of a ranking with names, we give you criteria you can use to check any offer, including the In The Sky aparthotel in Sky Tower, which is not a hotel in the classic sense but can be a good alternative.

Below you will find a comparison of accommodation types, a list of selection criteria and an honest answer to the question of when a classic hotel is the better choice. Information as of October 2026.

What does “near the city centre” mean in Wrocław?#

“Near the centre” is not about the distance from the Market Square (Rynek), but about how long it takes to reach the places you will actually visit. A day visitor cares about the Market Square and Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island). A trade fair or conference attendee needs good access to a specific venue, and someone arriving by car needs parking, which is often scarce in the very centre.

So start with a map: mark the two or three places you will be going to and check the walking or travel time from each address you are considering. For example, Sky Tower is about 2 km south-west of the Market Square. It is a 25–30 minute walk, or a few tram stops from Powstańców Śląskich. For some, that is “outside the centre”; for others, it is a convenient compromise between easy access and quiet.

Hotel, aparthotel or short-let apartment: which to choose?#

In search engines, “hotels in Wrocław” covers three different types of accommodation. They differ not in standard, but in what is included in the price:

FeatureClassic hotelAparthotelShort-let apartment from a private owner
What you booka rooman apartment, often with a living rooma flat
Breakfast and restaurantusually on sitedepends on the property, often nonenone
Receptionusually 24-hourduring set hoursusually none; keys from the owner or a key box
Spaceusually just a room with a bathroommore square metres, sometimes a kitchenetteas in a private flat
Privacyshared corridors, restaurant, lobbyyour own apartment, fewer shared areascomplete, but no on-site service
Who it suitsone night, business trips, when service matterscouples, families, longer stays, special occasionslonger stays organised independently

No type is better by definition. If you cannot imagine a trip without breakfast included, look for a hotel. If you prefer more space and peace, consider an aparthotel.

Seven criteria for recognising a good hotel in Wrocław#

For every offer, whether a hotel, an aparthotel or an apartment, go through the same points. They matter more for a comfortable stay than the number of stars:

  1. Travel time to your destinations: measured on a map, not copied from the listing (“right in the centre” can be a loose term).
  2. What is included in the price: breakfast, parking, cleaning, towels and toiletries. A missing item need not be a drawback, as long as you know about it before booking.
  3. Reception hours and late arrival: if you arrive in the evening, check until what time someone will be waiting for you and whether late check-in costs extra.
  4. Parking: whether it is on site, whether it has to be reserved and whether there is a charge.
  5. Room or apartment: size, bed type, window orientation and floor. A higher floor usually means less street noise.
  6. Ratings and reviews: look at the average across several sites and at recurring themes in recent reviews, not at individual extreme reviews.
  7. Booking terms: payment in advance, deposit, the deadline for cancelling without charge and the option to change dates.

On the last point, it is worth comparing the price on a booking portal with a direct booking. We explain the difference and the reasons for it in the article Booking.com or direct booking.

When is a classic hotel the better choice?#

To be honest, there are situations in which an aparthotel will not work and you are better off looking for a hotel straight away. Choose a classic hotel if:

If, however, space, privacy and the view matter more to you than all-day on-site service, an aparthotel may turn out to be the better choice.

In The Sky in Sky Tower, an aparthotel instead of a hotel: who is it for?#

In The Sky Apartments is an aparthotel, not a hotel: 26 apartments for short stays on floors 28–46 of Sky Tower, the tallest building in Wrocław. There is no restaurant and breakfast is not included. The reception is on the ground floor, at the marked entrance at Gwiaździsta 64, and is open daily 9:00–21:00. A later arrival is arranged with reception in advance (100 PLN until 23:00, 200 PLN after 23:00).

In return, you get an entire apartment, from the 35 m² Studio on the 34th floor with a king-size bed (from 520 PLN per night) to 100 m² apartments with a living room. 13 apartments have a jacuzzi by the panoramic window, and some have a private sauna. The lack of an on-site restaurant is made up for by the shopping centre downstairs: on level 0 there are restaurants, cafés and a Eurospar supermarket open until 22:00. You can leave your car in the paid garage on level +3 by reserving a space through reception.

The property is rated 8.9/10 on Booking.com and 4.6/5 on Google (as of autumn 2026). Answers to the most common questions before arrival, about check-in, the deposit or children, can be found on the In The Sky questions and answers page.
